Marketplace⚡Mastery #153: Alexa hits 350M shoppers, Amazon deletes entire catalogues, $7 CPC and more

Hey sellers! Alexa for Shopping is exploding, Seller Central is wiping listings, and non-branded clicks just hit $7

SellerSnap repricer just shipped a completely redesigned app

And of course, I’ve tried it 🙂 Faster, fully mobile, dark mode, multi store management in a single view, a real time Buy Box filter and historical inventory value tracking.

A brand new repricing engine is next, built to optimize profit instead of Buy Box share, with a waitlist open now for early access.

🗞 News

👉 Alexa for Shopping is now Amazon's main discovery layer. During Q2 2026 earnings call, Andy Jassy said active users of Alexa for Shopping nearly doubled year over year, with interactions up five times

US customers who use it spend 40% more per order than those who don't, and shoppers who try Alexa+ join Prime at nearly 25% higher rates.

As usual, keep your listings structured, complete and factual.

👉 A new AB test in the US shows vertical mobile adapted images for some of Amazon’s own brand listings. Just when we finished changing thousands of titles, do you imagine rebuilding every single image on your SKUs?

👉 Amazon is mass deleting listings and it's a Seller Central bug. Noah Wickham reports a flood of accounts hit by a bug inside Seller Central where listings are being mass deleted. After analysis and conversations with support, it's confirmed as an issue on Amazon's side, with no clear ETA on a fix or on what's causing it. Audit your catalog today.

👉 Sponsored Ads brings a bunch of news. Sponsored Products campaigns may start appearing off Amazon through creators in the Amazon Influencer Program (as we discussed last week); Sponsored Brands Brand Gallery has launched (custom image experiences, but RSOV only); and omnichannel metrics reporting is live so you can finally see the impact of Amazon Ads across other platforms.

On top of that: Sponsored Prompts are starting to show more impressions, and 10 new Brand+ and Performance+ capabilities shipped, including expanded formats and more signals.

👉 $7 per click is the new normal in RTD beverage. Kevin Wellis shared that his average non-branded CPC on Amazon is $7, putting him at roughly 150% ACOS and losing money on the first order of every can sold, while still scaling spend.

His logic: reorder rate and subscriber base climb every week, so the first can is acquisition cost and the tenth one is the business. He checks repeat rate every Monday right after revenue, because the math dies the second that number flattens.

👉 The refill basket is ecommerce's next growth engine. Related to the S&S post you just read, ECDB forecasts five everyday subcategories to lead growth through 2030: cleaning equipment at 23.8% a year, baked goods at 20.8%, meal kits at 19.1%, detergents at 19.0% and plants and seeds at 16.9%.

Global online grocery is modelled to grow 14.2% annually from 2025 to 2030 off a $505 billion base, ahead of beauty and care (8.7%), furniture and home (7.5%), fashion (7.3%) and electronics (6.1%). The catch: a 20% CAGR doesn't fix bad unit economics, so protect contribution margin with bundles, minimum thresholds and sensible cadence before you chase recurrence.

👉 Back to school is a race to the bottom on price. Big-box retailers are competing on lowest price points and on stocking whatever is trending on social, with promotions already running for weeks. The season has turned into a summer-long shopping event now that Prime Day moved to June. Retailers are also leaning hard on creator and influencer partnerships, because that's where shoppers are doing their research.

👉 Most brands are overpaying for clicks they'd get for free. Branded keywords inflate your ROAS while doing nothing for real profitability. Pull the Search Query Performance Report (Brand View), filter brand terms, sort by sales volume and conversion rate, then cut bids and budgets on brand campaigns gradually over 2 to 4 weeks while you monitor total brand sales (ads plus organic). If total sales hold, you've just freed budget with zero downside. Move it into non-branded or conquest campaigns where the growth actually is. Extracted from my ebook Amazon Advertising Hacks.
