Marketplace⚡Mastery #150: Amazon's AI skips the rankings, holiday fees freeze, Prime Day lifts June

Hey sellers! Amazon's AI recommends products your rank can't buy, holiday fees stay flat but deadlines move up, and Prime Day just juiced June sales.

🛑 Attention Amazon Sellers!

Most sellers can answer that at the account level: total sales, total profit, roughly whether the month worked. The harder question is which individual products carry the business, and which drain it.

At scale, a "profitable" account almost always hides money-losing SKUs. A healthy blended margin can be one strong product subsidizing three weak ones.

You won't see that in revenue, and you won't see it in a single profit figure. You need profit resolved down to the product, after every cost and tracked over time, so you catch a margin sliding before it costs you a quarter.

That's the job sellerboard's Profit Dashboard is built for. And I’m telling you this is the one app I check EVERYDAY for my clients, even before Seller’s App. Why?

  • It calculates true net profit by pulling every cost into one place: Amazon fees (the actual charges, not the projected ones), PPC, refunds and their real cost, shipping, COGS on a FIFO basis, and your indirect expenses.

  • You can check the profit at account, ASIN, parent, brand, supplier or marketplace level.

So I can focus on answering questions like “what changed”?

  • Drill into any number. Click a product for its full cost breakdown; click a refund count to see the actual return reasons behind it. This unconvered a massive FBA problem for one of my clients on Italy and France.

  • Trends show each metric evolving over time, so a creeping refund rate or a slow margin decline surfaces before it compounds. Get to the point before losing more money.

  • Compare periods side by side to see exactly what moved.

  • The P&L view gives you a clean, structured month-by-month table for reviews, audits, or handing to your accountant. And the new heatmap is super useful to spot any issues quickly.

FBA, FBM, and Walmart, all in one view.

👉 A new study from Autopilotbrand tracked 1,963 non-branded queries and 12,810 recommendations from Amazon's Alexa for Shopping between May and June. The result: 63.9% of its picks fell outside the organic top 10, and 40.9% never showed up on the visible search results page at all. Only 14.3% of picks were running a sponsored listing on that search term.

Rank and ad spend still win the search page, but they don't buy you a seat at the AI table.

Alexa for Shopping is becoming a third shelf next to organic and paid, and it rewards rich catalog data and clear intent-matching over search dominance.

👉 Amazon freezes holiday fees, moves the clock forward. Holiday 2026 promotion fees and peak fulfillment rates stay flat versus last cycle, but inbound deadlines for Prime Big Deal Days and Black Friday/Cyber Monday now land earlier across AWD and FBA.

Same cost, less time. Lock your forecasts and freight bookings now or eat the stockout risk in Q4.

👉 Prime Day effect boosts June ecommerce numbers as U.S. consumers spent $26.4 billion online from June 23 to 26 during Amazon's summer Prime Day, accounting for 18.5% of the month's total online sales. Total U.S. retail sales hit $768.55 billion in June 2026, up from $720.16 billion a year earlier. The halo effect keeps growing every year, moved-up date and all.

👉 5 days left before titleggedon. Amazon's new title and item highlights structure kicks in soon: 75 characters max for titles, 125 for the new item highlights field.

If you don't update your listings, Amazon's AI will do it for you, and that's a trainwreck waiting to happen. Get ahead of it now!
