Marketplace⚡Mastery #139: AI delivers zero ROI for most, Helium 10 lives in ChatGPT and more
Hey sellers! 25% of sellers using AI report zero impact, Helium 10 ships the first ChatGPT app for Amazon tools and Rufus now ties search to a personal profile.
🛑 Attention Amazon Sellers!
The Marketplace Pulse 2026 Seller Index dropped last week, surveying sellers with $2 billion+ in combined annual revenue.
83.4% now use AI somewhere in their operations, averaging 3.2 use cases each. But the kicker: 25.4% report no measurable results yet, the single largest response on impact.
Adoption skews to content tasks: listing optimization (63.5%) and image/video creation (49.2%). Advertising, pricing, competitive intel, and inventory forecasting all lag well behind.
Meanwhile, consumers aren't waiting. Adobe reported a 393% YoY jump in AI retail traffic in Q1 2026, and AI-referred visitors now convert 42% more than non-AI traffic.
Sooooooooooo… AI is becoming the discovery layer itself. If you're still using ChatGPT to spit out bullets and calling that strategy, you're already losing ground.
👉 Rufus now ties results to a "Tell us about you" profile, a feature where shoppers describe themselves in free text (style, hobbies, household, who they shop for) and an "About you" layer saves it across Rufus, Alexa and broader Amazon.
Two shoppers searching the same query will now get different stacks based on saved identity. Listings with explicit audience-anchoring language will outrank generic feature dumps.
👉 And another one about Rufus: now turns handwritten shopping lists into Amazon carts which is… sick! Shoppers can photograph a handwritten grocery or shopping list, upload it, and Rufus will transcribe and add the items directly to their cart. Live on iOS first with Android to follow.
👉 Helium 10 becomes the first Amazon tool with an OpenAI-approved ChatGPT app, as Bradley Sutton announced on LinkedIn. Inside ChatGPT, users hit Apps, connect their Helium 10 account, and can drop in an ASIN to get analysis pulled directly from the Helium 10 dataset.
It is currently a basic framework but def a first step towards a greater feature.
👉 Amazon's first Trustworthy Shopping Experience Report says it identified, seized, and disposed of over 15 million counterfeit products globally in 2025, blocked hundreds of millions of fake reviews, and shut down 100+ fake-review websites.
Its Counterfeit Crimes Unit has pursued 32,000+ bad actors across 14 countries since 2020 and is now expanding to India.
👉 Jarvio + SmartScout! Jake Ryan from Jarvio outlined this week how the platform combines its Claude-powered Amazon agent with SmartScout's brand, seller, and category-level data to surface competitive moves automatically.
Instead of manually pulling SmartScout reports, sellers can ask the agent natural-language questions and get analysis pushed to Slack or Sheets, replacing hours of manual brand research per week.

👉 Amazon restructured its podcast business over the past six months. Audio-only podcasts now sit under Audible, while a new unit called Creator Services manages on-camera talent like Dax Shepard, Keke Palmer, and the Kelce brothers with a clear strategy: fuse content and commerce.
👉 A new Amazon patent points to six keyword intent types in the search bar: Specification, Generalization, Equivalence, Substitution, Complement and Irrelevant
