Marketplace⚡Mastery #138: Rufus just became a shopping agent, California drops bombshell on Amazon and more
Hey sellers! California just dropped unredacted evidence of Amazon's alleged price-fixing scheme, Rufus crossed into full agentic commerce, and 700 brands proved seller collective action actually works.
🛑 Attention Amazon Sellers!
The California Attorney General filed unredacted evidence in its antitrust lawsuit against Amazon: they directly pressured vendors to raise prices on competing retailers' websites to protect its own margins.
Sounds familiar 1P vendors? If the evidence holds up in court, it could force Amazon to fundamentally change how it enforces price parity. Now that’d be unexpected!
👉 Vanessa Hung shared that Amazon's listing changes are now visible before they go live. Starting April 20, the "Review Listing Changes" dashboard in Seller Central filters to show only upcoming AI-suggested edits, with a "soon to be published" date giving you a review window before changes go live. Make sure to check it out!

👉 Rufus just became an agent with the new "Scheduled Actions", letting shoppers automate repeat purchases, track price drops and restock essentials on a schedule. It won't complete the purchase yet (items land in the cart first) but this is the first step to a full agentic commerce assitant.
👉 The MDS Group (Million Dollar Sellers, Kevin King) coordinated 700 brands to pull all ad spend on April 15 to protest Amazon blocking credit card payments for ads. Amazon listened and they pulled back. Let’s see if the decision sticks.

👉 Amazon just posted $21B in profit while seller counts decline. Don't mistake that for Amazon struggling. The platform is actively using policy enforcement to push out undifferentiated, copycat sellers. They want serious operators with teams. If you're not adapting weekly, Amazon isn't for you.
