Marketplace⚡Mastery #137: Amazon's "high price" warning, Winn-Dixie grocery deal, and Bezos' $81K salary exposed
Hey sellers! Amazon is now flagging your listings as "high price," Winn-Dixie gets same-day delivery across Florida, and Bezos still earns less than a construction worker.
🛑 Attention Amazon Sellers!
Amazon appears to be testing a "High price" warning label directly on product listings. The badge triggers when Amazon detects better prices from other retailers, and the screenshot circulating on LinkedIn shows it live on a desk calendar priced at $19.95. No official rollout has been announced - this looks like a test for now.
For sellers, the implications are serious. Pricing is no longer just a margin decision - it is now a conversion signal that Amazon itself can weaponize against you on your own listing page. Premium brands face a specific trap: if Amazon's system compares price without factoring in build quality, features, or brand value, a genuinely superior product can get flagged as overpriced before the customer even reads a single bullet point. Watch this one closely.

👉 Amazon and Winn-Dixie have broadened their same-day grocery delivery partnership to cover more of Florida's largest metro areas. This move comes as both companies have been closing physical stores, reinforcing Amazon's push to dominate online grocery rather than the brick-and-mortar race.
👉 Jeff Bezos still earns $81,400 a year & Amazon spends $1.6M on his travel and security. Hey, the man deserves it, no question about it.
Bezos has kept the same salary since 1998. He has never received stock compensation from the company either - because he already owns roughly 8% of it, worth approximately $225 billion. Andy Jassy earns $365,000 in base salary, with the real money coming through stock-based compensation.
