Marketplace⚡Mastery #134: 1-hour delivery is live, so long UPS, Haul is killing your CVR and more
Hey sellers! Amazon just went 1-hour in hundreds of cities, Haul is quietly tanking CVRs across mid-premium listings, and USPS contract chaos could hit your last-mile costs before Q4.
🛑 Amazon Haul is quietly wrecking conversion rates for mid-to-premium sellers
Love this story by Joey Giazzon. A seller saw their CVR drop from 14.2% to 9.8% - a 31% collapse - after a near-identical product appeared on Amazon Haul at $4.99. Traffic stayed almost the same (8,400 vs. 8,200 sessions).
The listing didn't break, but the confidence did.
The $4.99 price tag didn't steal the sale, but it created doubt about whether the $24.99 version was worth it.
This is the real Haul threat for sellers: not direct lost sales, but price anchoring that erodes perceived value. The fix isn't dropping your price. It's investing in premium imagery, A+ content with a real brand story, reviews with specific social proof and video showing what cheap alternatives can't deliver.
You can't beat $4.99 on price. But you can make $4.99 look like the risk it actually is.
📰 What you need to know
👉 Amazon goes 1-hour in hundreds of U.S. cities One-hour delivery from Amazon is now live in hundreds of cities, with three-hour delivery available in over 2,000 cities and towns.
Prime members pay $9.99 for the one-hour option, leveraging Amazon's predictive AI inventory placement to speed up picking and fulfillment. This puts direct pressure on Walmart's same-day Express Delivery advantage - and on any brick-and-mortar retailer that relies on convenience to drive impulse purchases.

👉 Amazon now dominates at $300B in 3P sales, over seven times eBay's. And Amazon Haul already spans over one million SKUs under $10 across 25 markets.

👉 Amazon says USPS "abruptly walked away" from contract negotiations in December. The current deal (worth over $5 billion a year and covering roughly 1.7 billion packages annually) expires September 30, 2026. Amazon has submitted a bid under USPS's new auction-based pricing system but is preparing to shift volume. For sellers, this could tighten last-mile capacity and push up costs, especially in rural markets.
👉 Amazon confirmed the acquisition of Swiss robotics startup Rivr (formerly Swiss-Mile), which builds wheeled, four-legged robots designed to assist with last-mile deliveries. The plan is to test the robots helping delivery associates carry packages from vehicles to front doors, so… yup, Amazon is serious about automating every step of the chain.
👉 Amazon is building a new smartphone codenamed "Transformer" This happens +11 years after the Fire Phone flopped. This new phone is focused on Alexa+ and AI-first experiences. The project is run by a new unit called ZeroOne, led by ex-Microsoft executive J Allard. The phone would integrate Amazon Shopping, Prime Video, and Prime Music, and is being framed internally as a way to keep customers inside the Amazon ecosystem.
👉 And a couple quick ones to close: Instagram and Facebook are letting influencers earn a commission from Amazon and eBay products... again + this is the new Walmart shopping experience on ChatGPT

💡 Use a trawling auto campaign to find converting terms without burning budget
Most sellers either over-engineer their auto campaigns or ignore them completely. The trawling hack sits in the middle: create one auto campaign, throw all your products into a single ad group, set "Dynamic Bidding - Reduce Only," start with a $10-$15 daily budget and bids around $0.35.
Don't raise bids even if it performs. Add exact negatives for terms that click but never convert.
The goal isn't to scale this campaign - it's to cast a wide net, catch search terms with real potential, and feed them into your manual campaigns. Low cost, low maintenance, high signal.
