2025 quick recap in 4 bullet points

1. Rufus and COSMO dominated 2025. From longer, contextual answers to shopping memory, shopping guides, editorial content, bid on prompts, AI summaries… Amazon shifted from keyword matching to assisted decision-making.

2. Amazon Ads and PPC pressure reached new highs in 2025 with “Reserve Share of Voice”, more sponsored inventory in SERPs and PDPs and aggressive retail media expansion. Sponsored Brands Video became the breakout format, while AI bidding, automation, and AMC moved from “nice to have” to mandatory.

3. Global commerce reset: China, Temu, and Shein lose the free ride thanks to regulatory pressure, new trade agreements and subsidy rollbacks. January 22 will also see the end of Chinese owned TikTok in the US, with Oracle, Silver Lake and MGX owning 45% while 30% held by existing ByteDance investors and just a 20% retained by ByteDance.

4. AWS, OpenAI, and the AI infrastructure war. Mega deals like AWS and OpenAI reinforced Amazon’s role as the backbone of AI infrastructure. AI is no longer a feature. It is core business and everyone is pouring top dollar.
