👉 China ends the tax gray zone for cross-border sellers! Starting Oct 31, Amazon will report quarterly seller data to Chinese authorities (IDs, revenue, fees), making under-reporting far riskier and pushing the ecosystem firmly toward compliance-first operations.

👉 October Prime Big Deal Days underwhelmed as shoppers focused on essentials and smaller baskets. Satisfaction dipped versus July, and many compared prices across retailer pointing to a cautious, deal-driven consumer and a holiday season where promos alone may not move the needle.

👉 Walmart search now looks a lot like Amazon’s. Despite a 2019 pledge to keep top search slots ad-free, Walmart increasingly puts sponsored results front and centermirroring Amazon’s playbook and signaling that retail media revenue is now table stakes in marketplace search.

👉 After OpenAI’s instant checkout rollout (Etsy live, Shopify coming), Walmart is lining up direct shopping via ChatGPT using an agentic commerce protocol that keeps Walmart as merchant of record accelerating the race for where AI-driven journeys start.
