Marketplace⚡Mastery #108: TikTok is finally American, new agentic AI tools and more
Hey Sellers! Oracle, Silver Lake and A16z finally own 80% of TikTok in the US and more news
🛑 Attention Amazon Sellers
After years of political pressure, TikTok’s U.S. future is secured with a massive restructuring deal. The new American-controlled app will run on a separate “America First” algorithm, with 80% ownership by U.S. firms like Oracle, Silver Lake, and A16z, and 20% by Chinese investors.
Oversight will fall under a U.S. government-approved board, effectively severing Chinese operational control. Users will need to download the U.S. version, but the app itself survives largely intact, allowing TikTok to remain while addressing national security concerns.
Will this affect TikTok Shop? Too soon to tell.
📰 What you need to know
👉 Amazon is rolling out “agentic AI” tools inside Seller Central, upgrading its seller assistant to not just answer questions but plan, reason and take action on behalf of merchants.
The system, powered by Bedrock and LLMs like Amazon Nova and Claude, can now automate inventory monitoring, pricing, compliance checks and even suggest marketing campaigns.
Do not (I repeat) DO NOT leave this thing won your ad campaigns under any circumstances.
👉 At Amazon Accelerate, Amazon announced it will phase out its controversial Commingling Program, which pooled identical items from different sellers under one barcode. While the system sped up deliveries, it also let counterfeit or expired goods mix with authentic ones, hurting brand trust and consumer confidence.
👉 Temu, Shein and AliExpress surpass Amazon.com traffic driving nearly 3 billion monthly visits.
Despite U.S. tariffs and de minimis battles, these Chinese retail giants continue to scale, with Temu alone on track to hit almost $100 billion in GMV in 2025. Their strength lies in global reach across dozens of markets, many still benefiting from de minimis exemptions.
👉 Worldeye rebrands as Seller Suite: BidX, Viral Launch and DataHawk are now under one roof. The new unified platform aims to provide sellers with a more integrated ecosystem of analytics, advertising and optimization tools.
👉 Amazon debuts shoppable collections on product detail pages (PDPs), allowing brands to showcase up to 10 modules, including autoplay videos with sound (though they don’t loop). Each video pairs with a static image and brands can now customize HEX code colors for better branding.
